While these players are still a couple years from reaching high school, there still proved to be plenty of talent at the Generation Next Tip-Off. Here are some of the tournaments 13U standouts.
Jackson Fischer – 2029 – G – Wisconsin Lutheran
Amongst a talented field of guards at the 13U level, Fisher was one of the best. He has a very well-rounded game with a high skill set and knows how to play all at a young age. Both on and off the ball, he excelled. A smooth shooter spotting up from the outside, but he also plays well on the attack finishing all around the paint as well as reading the floor and finding teammates to rack up assists.
Brayden Harris – 2029 – PG – WER1
Harris had just a stellar performance in the championship game to cement his spot on this list. The point guard has deep shooting range and was hitting all of his shots in the title matchup to help his team capture the championship. Much more than a shooter, he is also a good playmaking point guard who can create for his teammates.
Brady Lautenschlager – 2029 – G – Kessel Heat
One of a few players from this Kessel Heat team who impressed during the tournament to have them win their pool and make it to the semifinals. To start off the tournament he had a huge game going for 23 points in a win. He is a skilled and quick wing guard that was scoring it effectively in a number of ways. He was at his best playing on the attack finishing everything but was also effective hitting shots from the mid-range.
Tomarri Patterson – 2030 – G/F – Motion Elite
Over both days of the tournament, Patterson proved to be one of the top players at the 13U level even while playing up a grade as a 2030. He is already 6’1” with good strength but is a versatile player. Patterson moves well for his size and defended very well around both the paint and out on the perimeter. Whether he was posting up or playing on the attack, he was very effective scoring the ball. Patterson was a key factor to help Motion Elite reach the championship game.
Drew Schnurman – 2029 – G – NS Ballerz
Schnurman had one of the best games of the tournament at any level on Sunday scoring 25 points as well as playing tough and energetic defense to advance his team into the semifinals. He is a big guard that can run the point but also score it so well in a variety of ways. Whether he was knocking down shots at a high percentage or taking it strong to the basket, he could not be stopped as well to making some good passes.
Brady Uelmen – 2029 – PG – Wisconsin Reps
One of the more skilled scorers at the 13U level who was just unstoppable for long stretches. In a single half on Saturday, he scored 15 points and then 22 for the whole game. He sees the floor well and did a nice job maneuvering around defenders to often get into the paint and finish everything. Much more than just a driver, Uelmen has a good-looking jumper from the outside and was hitting them off the catch and dribble. He is a smart guard who can really play with an advanced game.
Denym Wallace – 2029 – F/C – NS Ballerz
While only in the seventh grade, Wallace already stands at 6’3” but is much more than just size. He was one of the biggest players in the age group and showed the ability to be dominant for long stretches inside but also some good skills and a big motor. The big man played well off the dribble taking it strong to the basket moving well for his size and scored it well posting up.
