The inaugural Wisconsin Spring Showdown hit the hardwood earlier this month with many of the top prospects in the state of Wisconsin front and center for three days. Here’s a quick look at five talented interior prospects that stood out to me in the 16U division over the course of the weekend…
2023 6’7 Milan Momcilovic - Phenom University 16U
A versatile forward who can stretch the floor, Milan Momcilovic impressed with his high skill set at Wisconsin Spring Showdown. He has a smooth jumper with range that extends beyond three point line, and uses good footwork in the midpost to create space for fadeaway jumpers. Momcilovic moves well at his size and projects as a high major prospect as he continues to develop and gain strength.
2023 6’6 Reak Riak - Movement Hoops Elite 16U
Reak Riak had some flashes of what he can become at Wisconsin Spring Showdown, blocking shots, stretching the floor with solid mechanics on his jumper and using his length and quick jumping ability to effect the game. He showed impressive quickness and explosion off of two feet, finishing drop off passes and lobs, has good hands and is a fluid athlete who is still growing at 6’6.
2024 6’6 Sekou Konneh - Team Haliburton 16U
Sekou Konneh has a high upside and didn’t look overwhelmed at all playing against older competition with Team Haliburton 16U. He has great length contesting shots at the rim, controlling rebounds and catching passes in traffic with good hands. Konneh is a young prospect that has begun to blossom over the last 6 months and should see his stock continue to rise over the next couple of years.
2023 6’9 Simeon Murchison - ABC Lions 16U
Simeon Murchison may have one of the highest ceilings in Wisconsin’s 2023 class. At 6’9 he is mobile and can stretch the floor in pick and pop actions. He does a good job of positioning himself defensively to contest shots at the rim, runs the floor and finished around the basket for ABC Lions 16U.
2023 6’7 Quincy Cole - Cream City Chosen 16U
Quincy Cole is a very intriguing 2023 prospect who had some eye opening flashes for Cream City Chosen 16U over the weekend. He is a fluid athlete at 6’7 who impressed with his versatility defensively and was all over the floor. He needs to gain strength but had some explosive finishes in traffic playing above the rim. Cole is a prospect to watch closely as he continues to develop.
