The Kentucky Expo Center was late last month for the Grassroots Showcase. Just a remarkable amount of the talent was on hand with a long list of high major players present. Here is part one of the 17U top performers.
Camron Amboree – 2022 – G – 3D Empire
Amboree is a quality two-way guard. He is a tough attacking guard that is good off the dribble creating. The shifty guard shoots the ball well off the dribble and is a very crafty finisher around the paint. Plus, Ambrose has very good court vision on the move. Defensively, the junior is a tough pressure defender with his quickness and energy.
Anthony Black – 2022 – G – 3D Academy
The explosive guard from Texas has great size in the backcourt at 6’7” with tons of versatility and skill. He is an incredibly difficult matchup with all his scoring ability in addition to his size. He has good moves off the dribble and is an effective driver that also uses his size to score around the basket to put up good scoring totals throughout the tournament.
Leon Bond – 2022 – F – JH1 Elite
Bond is a highly athletic slashing wing forward with good length. He scores it well going to the basket and is a big-time finisher at the basket in addition to hitting some jumpers in the mid-range off the dribble. He plays with a great motor and is able to do a lot on the floor with his athleticism.
Kam Craft – 2022 – G – Meanstreets
The 6’6” wing guard is a highly skilled shot maker that scores it at a very high level. Craft has great range on his jumper and hits tough contested shots often. He does a good job creating his own shot and shoots it very well off the dribble. Over the last few days Craft has received offers from NC State and Texas Tech.
Jamar Franklin – 2022 – G – Team Speights
A skilled scorer that shoots the ball at a high level. He is a knockdown spot up shooter that just was not missing from the perimeter over the weekend with a great looking jumper to put up some big point totals. Plus, he has some quickness with the ball with good handle to be able to get to the basket too.
Bryce Griggs – 2022 – G – JL3 Elite
The guard is a quality scorer that can get it done in bunches. He has great burst of quickness to get to the basket very often and is a good crafty finisher when he gets there. He maneuvers well with the ball and is always working the defense looking for gaps to drive. Griggs also has a good ability to quickly rise up off the dribble and hit shots from all over.
Vincent Iwuchukwu – 2022 – C – JL3 Elite
A huge 7’ post that moves so well for his size with good athleticism. He is an elite rim protector with his great length but can also switch out onto smaller players as well to being one of the top rebounders. He plays with great energy running the floor hard to score it very well in transition and showed some ability to score playing face up to the basket. He has unlimited potential and is one of the top big men in the nation.
Chandler Jackson – 2022 – G – Team Thad
The junior is a strong guard that plays at a high level with the ball in his hands. He is always looking to attack the defense and scored it very well around the basket and from the mid-range. Jackson is a very crafty scorer that knows how to finishes once he gets into the defense and uses his college ready body to get it done. Plus, he’s a good passer that knows where to go with the ball. Jackson has gotten offers from Ohio University and St. John’s this week.
Amarr Knox – 2022 – G – Team Thad
Knox was one of the top playmaking point guards at the tournament. He is incredibly quick off the dribble with exceptional moves to being getting inside and creating for himself and his teammates. The Memphis commit has some size in the backcourt at 6’4” and is a great and crafty finisher around the basket. While he put up some good scoring totals, the athletic guard is also a skilled on-ball defender.
Cameron Liggins – 2022 – G – Yanders Law
Liggins had one of the more impressive scoring displays at the tournament, with a 38-point performance against an EYBL team. He is a good slashing guard but can also burry jumpers with deep range. More than just a scorer, as the 6’4” guard can really defend the ball with his quickness and athleticism. Liggins picked up an offer from Montana State following his big weekend.
